The north coast of the Dominican Republic has a rich variety of traditional dishes, many of which are based on seafood. Some examples of typical dishes from the northern coastal area of the country include:

This Creole dish is regularly served with fried plantains or white rice.
- Crab in creole sauce: when you try it you will be delighted, it is based on stewed crab dough, Dominicans prefer to accompany it with fried plantains or white rice.
- Asopao de mariscos: a seafood stew, especially shrimp, cooked with rice, onion, cilantro and spices.
Gastronomy in the Province of Samaná
In Las Terrenas and Las Galeras you will find restaurants where French and Dominican gastronomy have merged, due to the strong French migration that exists today thanks to the paradisiacal beaches of the area. But in this article we want to point out more than anything else the typical dishes that define the local gastronomy. And the Samana province, located on the north coast of the Dominican Republic, has a rich and varied gastronomy. So we will point out some of the typical dishes of the region include:- The Samanense flag: a typical meal consisting of rice, beans and fish, served on the same plate.
- Rice with coconut “Arroz con coco”: it is a rice dish cooked with coconut milk, served with fried fish or meat.
- Seafood soup "Sancocho de mariscos": a traditional soup made with shrimp, lobster, clams and other seafood.
- Samana style fish: a traditional fish stew cooked with coconut milk, onion, fresh coriander, bell peppers and spices.
- Grilled lobster: lobsters are cooked on the grill with spices and lemon, served with rice and salad.
- Fried fish: the fresh fish is marinated and then fried and served with rice and salad.
